Science

This week we will look at irreversible changes. Get a pen/pencil and paper ready to record your new learning and to jot down your ideas and new scientific vocabulary - just as we do in class.

You will need some everyday kitchen cupboard stores to have a go at the activities, including: milk, malt vinegar, white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. You will also need a sieve, bowl and a teaspoon for the first activity, and a balloon, funnel and empty water bottle for the second (don't worry if you can't find a balloon - simply mix the the solid and liquid together in a bowl or jug and watch the reaction).

Reversible or Irreversible Activity - choose which sheet is best for you
Seeing Changes Practical Activity - again, choose the sheet which is best suited to you

PSHCE - Well-Being

Making your own mindfulness colouring sheet is easy to do if you don't have any printed pictures - and fun to make even if you do! This week we are continuing with doing practical things to help with our own well-being - as we are learning that relaxing is imperative for our mental health.
Reasons why mindfulness colouring is beneficial:

relaxing        stress-relief            self-expression        re-focus        creative

            enjoyment              calming                concentration      emotions

self-awareness           colour           meaningful thoughts                possitivity

To get the most out of the activity, think or write down these thoughts as you colour:
  • “In this moment, I am colouring in.”
  • “It does not need to be perfect, it is my self-expression.”
  • “I am choosing [colour] to use on all the [shape]s in the picture.”
  • “I am stepping away from technology, and feeling the sensations of this tactile activity.”
  • “I notice that the [colour] shades make me feel [emotion].”
In addition, you should play mindfulness music quietly in the background to help create an atmosphere of calm.
