Read the passage below and answer the questions:
Friend Wanted
My name is Eoin and I’ve recently moved to the area. Here’s a little bit about me:
• I’m 232 years old so I’m full of interesting stories;
• I love dancing, singing and flying;
• I prefer the night and don’t like being out in the day;
• I don’t bite (that’s an important one). I’m looking for a friend to hang out with. Preferably, someone with similar interests. Please, don’t be put off by my fangs, cape or odd eating habits. Honestly, I’m not looking for a meal: just a friend. I look forward to hearing from you.
1. Name one activity that Eoin enjoys.
2. I’ve recently moved to the area. Write a different word that means the same as area.
3. I don’t bite (that’s an important one). Why do you think that Eoin has chosen to include the words that’s an important one?
4. Why should people become friends with Eoin?

LO: Why is Jesus inspiring to some people? Understanding symbolic language
Symbols for Jesus: what do they mean?
Ask yourself, “If I was an animal, a car, a colour, an item of clothing, a kind of food, a place anywhere on earth, I’d be… because…”
Was this an easy or a hard thing to think about?
Here are pictures that represents the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus.
He said: I am the Light, the Bread of Life, the Door, the Good Shepherd, the Way, Truth, Life, the Resurrection, the True Vine.
Think carefully about each picture. What does it / he / she do? Why might it / he / she be important?
What do they think Jesus was trying to say about himself? Note down your ideas. Don’t try to look at all seven – choose two or three.
Now you are going to create some symbolic ‘I am…’s for yourself!
Draw an outline shape of a person and divide it into 7 sections. Now draw a picture for one or all of the ‘I am…’ sayings inside this outline and explain what it means.
